My work is dedicated to those who are dependent on beauty in order to survive modern society. Beauty, that is, infused with influences from literature, decadent black humor and all the elegant corruptions that often get drowned out by the cacophony of our daily lives.

Every image begins as a roughly drawn sketch, constructed into reality with thread and needle, plaster and paint--all the tricks and illusions of the theatre, eventually being captured with snaps of technology. Then begins the process of alternating layers of drawing and photographic image, scratching and distortion. A process resulting in a speck of computer memory that waits to be brought to life by printer or projection.

My interest in photography is never to simply capture what is, but to create an image from the ground up by any means necessary in order to achieve the completion of an idea.

In these images, you might find the predicament of a character in a novel, a poetic description of an iconic personality, a childhood philosophy or self mythology created under the influence of lost youth. These images give evidence to a parallel life thinly, but decidedly walled against modern day banalities.
